Gulmarg, situated about 51 km from Srinagar at an altitude of 2730 m is a landscape of unearthly beauty. With its strategic location, Gulmarg serves as a base camp for trekking in the northern Pir Panjal Range. The world renowned Nanga Parbat can also be seen to the north from several view points, including Khilanmarg. It is one of the prime ski-resort in India boasting of all sorts of winter sports like Skiing, Snowboarding, Trekking, Golfing and Mountaineering.
Sonamarg, placed about 96 km from Srinagar is a resort set in a faultless village lying next to the Lidder River. Nicknamed as “Meadow of Gold”, Sonamarg is nestled in-between dense fragrant forests boasting of adventure sport activities like golfing, angling, trout fishing and lots more. Tourists also get an opportunity to indulge in having a pony ride to one of the glaciers and if lucky can also spot Himalayan Brown Bears. Similar to Gulmarg, Sonamarg also serves as the starting point to major trekking destinations with one trek leads all the way to the Amarnath Cave.
