The Himalayan mountain range extends for about 2,500 km from Kashmir, northern India, southern Tibet, Nepal, Sikkim and Bhutan. Since, the Himalayan mountain range is extensive and spreads through various countries and regions, numerous roads and tracks are available that lead to the Himalayas. Reaching the Himalayas
By Air: If you have limited travelling time, the best option to reach the Himalaya is by air. You can catch a flight from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and reach Srinagar. From Srinagar there are various travelling options like private taxies and busses which will take you to further places like Leh and Ladakh.
By Road: Tourists preferring the road rout should go to Kathgodam situated about 275 km from Delhi by hiring private taxies or bus. En route there are various important places like Hapur, Moradabad, Rampur, Bilaspur, Rudrapur and Haldwani. Once you reach Kathgodam you can embark from here on your further journey to the Himalayas.
By Rail: Tourists opting for the convenience of the rail route will have to reach Kathgodam by boarding the Ranikhet Express which commences from Old Delhi Railway Station. The train passes through beautiful and exotic locals en route which add to the beauty of the journey. Kathgodam is the base camp from where various trekking and adventure tours in the Himalayas are organized.
