Does tourists require permits in Jammu & Kashmir Himalayas?

It is one of the most sought after tourist destinations in India where tourists and visitors get an opportunity to indulge in all sorts of adventure activities. Tourists and guests from India as well as foreign countries make it a point to reach here and explore its unseen beauty.

The question is whether you require a permit to visit places of tourist interest in Jammu & Kashmir. The answer to this is no, you don’t require any such permits unless you are visiting the restricted tourist areas within Ladakh like the Pangong lake, Tso-moriri lake area, Nubra Valley, and Dha-Hanu region. Similarly, to enter Ladakh no permits are required. However it is advisable that all foreign tourists must carry their passport with a valid visa. Tourist from India must carry any identity proof like driving license, election card or passport in case the authorities ask for it.
