Kufri, a tiny hill resort in the southern part of Himachal Pradesh, which is merely 13 kms from Shimla, Kufri is also known for its trekking and hiking routes. Located at an altitude of 2,510 m above sea level amongst the foothills of the Himalayas, Kufri is derived from the name Kufer which literally means pond. This place is famous for ski slopes and offers great views of the deep valleys and forests which rise towards the lofty Himalayas. It is surrounded by cedar woods and through which one can walk to Mahasu Peak, the highest peak in Kufri.
Kufri is a skier's paradise and one of the oldest ski resorts in Himachal, which hosts an Annual Winter Festival in the month of February. During this festival skiing enthusiasts and adventure seekers from all over the world, come in large numbers. Kufri is the best summer getaways that offer ample opportunities for hiking, trekking, horse-riding and tobogganing. Kufri summers are the best season along its snow-covered slopes. The town offers some of the best attractions like the pond called 'Kufer', the Himalayan Nature Park, Indra Tourist Park and the popular Yak Safari in Kufri.
