Wangdiphodrang Valley, Bhutan
The world's last remaining Buddhist Kingdom has protected its rich cultural heritage by limiting outside influences. Head to the verdant valley of Paro and trek the Druk Path which traverses a gorgeous landscape of pine forests and alpine lakes. Make a side trip from Paro to the Tigers Nest (Taktsang Monastery) which lies on the edge of a 1000m cliff and has become a symbol of Bhutan. If you are up for adventure experience the Snowman trek which at 30 days is considered the world's most difficult trek.
