Himalayas are the gigantic mountain ranges which stretch 2,900 km along the border between India and Tibet. "Himalaya" is derived from a Sanskrit word hima, "snow," and alaya, "abode" which means "Abode of Snow". The arc-shaped Himalayas extend along the entire northern boundary of India and carve just as far across the Indian subcontinent. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Sikkim and The North Eastern States are the regions which are known as the Indian Himalayas.
Jammu & Kashmir
Jammu & Kashmir is the first Himalayan State of India. The Himalayas are further divided into Jammu, Kashmir and Ladak regions.
