Start your trip with a tour of historic Lhasa the capital of Tibet before continuing overland though the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp North. Visit the famous palaces and monasteries of Lhasa while you acclimatize for a few days before heading to the historic city of Gyantse which is known for its ancient fort and beautiful wall of '100,000' murals. We continue onward from Gyantse to Shigatse and New Tingri through the beautiful Tibetan countryside. We will leave the Friendship Highway at New Tingri and head directly towards the base camp of Everest. Unlike the base camp for Everest in Nepal used to climb the south face of the mountain you can drive almost directly to the Everest Base Camp in Tibet which is used to approach the summits north face. Enjoy a night in Rongbuk whose famous monastery is said to be the world's highest. In the morning you can spend a few hours walking up to Everest Base Camp and enjoying the spectacular scenery before we need to return to the Friendship Highway and the village of Nyalam for the evening. On the last day we leave Tibet and enter Nepal as we head to Kathmandu our final destination.
